Movado Calibre 90M Chronograph from the 1940's Movado is a unique company with an interesting pedigree. Today when one thinks of Movado the museum watch is what most people envision. Movado was entrenched forever in the watch world with it's innovative designs and forward thinking long before the museum watch was created. For instance this chronograph being featured was produced in the 1940's, however it looks right at home in 2012. In 1921 Movado made the first split second chronograph and today is still one of the most sought after by collectors. Frederic Piquet was hired by Movado to design a chronograph for Movado. He actually gave them 2 of the most historic and beautiful chronographs ever produced the Cal 90 and Cal 95. Below is an example of the Cal 90 in original condition, a rare find indeed. These 2 designs were the property of Movado exclusively. Enjoy! |
The stepped case was the signature of the early Movado Chronographs.
The round pushers were way ahead of their time exhibiting the genius of Movado.
Unique to these Chronographs was the FP signature inside the case back.
The 1940 era watches consisted of very few screw down case backs. Once again, Movado was an early adopter.
Here is the gorgeous Calibre 90 still ticking away with no regard for it's age whatsoever. Wow!
